Project BackgroundAnd so it begins..... August 9th, 2003, the day I've been waiting for since I was 7 years old. I can remember playing around the old car in my grandfather's barn when I was a little kid, wishing I could drive it. My father parked the car there when he was transferred in the Navy on short notice, and never finished the restoration that he had started in 1979. Now I'm older, so it's my turn to work on it. This website will be a documentary on the process of turning a forgotten barn car into an unforgettable street rod! You can follow along with me as I go through the entire step by step process of building my dream car. Click on the links to the right to read the articles I have written about each step of the build. I hope this web site will serve as a source of information for anyone working on a similar project, and as a source of inspiration for anyone who hasn't started one yet. This is the first car I've ever worked on. I'm sure there will be plenty of mistakes along the way, but that's all part of the fun. If you have any ideas, expertise, questions, recommendations, opinions, pictures, thoughts, critiques, insults, or compliments, I'd like to hear from you. Email me at Shane@RustToRod.com |
Construction ProgressI'm writing detailed descriptions of all the work I'm doing in the shop. You can read all about the project from very beginning, or just look at one phase of the car, such as the body work.View Project Articles by
